Three Photographers, One Shared Vision.
An encourager, a free spirit, and a warm smile, all talented in their own rights, creating art from the moments and people that make your wedding day one of the most special of your life. This is the Chris Bailey Photography team.
As a team, their ability to communicate, to anticipate the needs of others, and to provide unparalleled professionalism and dedication to quality workmanship allows each to capitalize on their talents as artists.
As individuals, their varied inspirations, personalities, and decade-plus of experience and training allow them to create a rapport with their clients — to connect with them — and in doing so, capture all of the small moments that make a wedding day a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Chris Bailey
Owner/Principal Photographer
An encourager, a team leader, and a connector. Chris believes in the power of photography as an art form and a way to move the viewer and bring them into the emotion of the moments he captures. Finding photography in middle school and diving headlong into the technical knowledge required during these film photography days, Chris learned to develop photographs in his own dark room and never looked back.
Inspired by photographers known for their attention to detail and moving images, Chris used his innate ability to create connections with others and put them at ease, which led him into wedding and event photography. After graduating from the University of Texas with a degree in Studio Art, Chris opened his eponymous studio in 2008 upon returning to Houston from that short Austin sojourn. (Hook ‘Em, Horns!) He married his high school sweetheart, Regan, and enlisted David to photograph their special day. Years later, they’d determine that it was David who sold Chris some of his first darkroom equipment – a fated friendship, and partnership, for sure.
Connecting with people – encouraging them, finding their strengths and what makes them unique, and allowing them to be authentically who they are, without pretense, is what Chris is known for. Photography, and specifically wedding and event photography, is an avenue for that connection. Being present, listening to, and deeply caring about people’s stories has afforded him the opportunity to tell these beautiful stories through his passion of photography.
Principal Photographer/Photographic Film Specialist
David Bates
A free spirit, a wealth of experience and technical knowledge, an original. For David, photography is a way of life. His dad handed him a camera to photograph zoo animals for a photo contest at age 11 (he placed second, but the zoo used his photo in an ad for the contest!) and it has been a passion since. Learning the technical skills required to shoot primarily black and white photos using only available light, coupled with a degree in photography from the Art Institute of Houston in 1986, allowed David the skills to truly develop his art and vision.
David’s desire to avoid repetition and formula, but rather capture truly substantive moments and people with an artist’s eye led him to wedding and event photography. Having captured more than 500 weddings over the course of his career, his talent for documentary-style photography is apparent in the thousands of images that grace his clients’ wedding albums, desks, and walls.
Being invited into, and trusted with, the intimate, delicate moments of someone’s special day is an honor for David – one he doesn’t take lightly. Adept at reading people and situations, David is known for putting people at ease, allowing him to be truly present and capture candid, unique, and stunning photos of the moments and people he meets.

Sarah Austin
A warm smile, a familiar presence, a cheerful soul. Sarah’s passion is people and telling their stories through photography. Developing such an intimate relationship between photographer and client requires an incredible degree of trust – in the photographer’s skill, artistic, and who they are as a person. Sarah has been building each of the skills her entire life from elementary school adventures taking candid shots of schoolmates to perfecting her skills as a photojournalism major for her BA at the University of North Texas, she has developed, and nurtured, talent alongside relationships.. In the end, Sarah’s passion for photographing and connecting with people during their most joyous moments rather than the news led her to working with Chris.
This nuanced balance of photography, organization, and connection, enables Sarah to aptly navigate the sometimes stressful and chaotic background of weddings and events. Sarah’s ability to perform under pressure and stay level-headed, all the while building rapport with her clients and subjects, allows her to find and capture even the smallest moments that tell the story of the biggest days. Finding a joyful smile, a look of pride, a fountain of excitement, and love in the faces of those she’s entrusted with photographing are all part of Sarah’s toolkit. Being entrusted to find and capture these perfect, elusive moments is truly Sarah’s greatest skill – one that she is always thrilled to share!
